Prince William wants to send Harry, Meghan and the new baby to Africa to get them out of the country
Wow
When a Hollywood star marries an English prince, their lives become the kind of perfect tale that draws a bright media spotlight.
But according to palace sources, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s spotlight is shining a bit too bright for Prince William.
Surfacing reports are suggesting that William is keen to have Harry and Meghan sent out of the country to a multi-year assignment in Africa. The assignment is believed to be somewhat of a ploy to push the couple out of the limelight and regain some control over the media darlings.
The royal pair are already proving that they’re very much determined to do things their own way, despite what is and isn’t considered tradition in the monarch. Their independence from the monarch is said to be the driving force behind the decision.
“In some ways it would suit William to get his brother out of the country for a few years and Meghan as far away as possible,” a friend of the princes told The Sunday Times.
“They sent them down to Frogmore to try and keep them out of the limelight for a bit (but) this is doomed to fail. They are worried that Harry and Meghan are going to establish a totally separate enterprise that nobody can get under control.”
“There are discussions in palace circles about how do we harness Harry and Meghan and this tremendous global attention they get,” the friend added.
This new role is said to have the couple, along with their new bub, posted somewhere in Africa as early 2020.
The couple’s love of the continent is well reported making the claims seem not all that farfetched. Their mutual enjoyment of time spent in Africa and the place it holds in their hearts was a centrepiece of their love story in its early days.
Harry spent a gap year in Lesotho in 2004 and Meghan took a trip Rwanda in 2016 to work with World Vision charity. Then there’s also the couple’s five-night stay in Botswana where they shared that they first fell in love.
Buckingham Palace solidified the legitimacy of the reports the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be sent to Africa when it refused to deny the rumours in a statement, instead revealing: “Any future plans for The Duke and Duchess are speculative at this stage. No decisions have been taken about future roles.”
We’ve been hearing a lot of reports of feuds between Harry and Meghan and William and Kate over the past year since Harry and Meghan announced their plans to move to Windsor to escape. Could this be the ultimate move to separate the feuding siblings?
