The Duke and Duchess of Sussex bowed out of royal life with a lengthy message to their followers, in which they thanked their “community” while reflecting on recent global changes.
The couple built their impressive following of 11.3 million people in less than a year, and they have been known for their heartfelt and informative posts.
However, with the pair stepping back from royal life, and social media, it is thought that Princess Eugenie may fill the gap left by the Sussexes and rise up to be an Instagram favourite among royal watchers.
Eugenie has 1.1 million Instagram followers and has made several sweet posts in recent weeks, suggesting she may be the one to take on Meghan’s Instagram crown.
She recently shared a sweet snap of herself, her husband Jack Brooksbank and her mother Sarah Ferguson, to mark Mother's Day in the UK.
The Princess also shares regular throwback photos featuring her sister Princess Beatrice, and her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Eugenie also shared another heartfelt post to thank hardworking NHS staff amid the ongoing public health crisis.
She posted a photo of staff holding up the message “We need your support” at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where she is a patron.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their senior royal roles on March 31.
“As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex began in their final Instagram post.
“Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference – as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line – together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise.
“What’s most important right now is the health and wellbeing of everyone across the globe and finding solutions for the many issues that have presented themselves as a result of this pandemic,” the couple added.
Harry and Meghan went on to say that while they won’t be using the Sussex Royal handle any more fans can still expect to hear from them and learn of their important work elsewhere.
The message continued: “As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute.
“While you may not see us here, the work continues."
The Duke and Duchess concluded their final farewell by thanking fans for their continued support and urged everyone to remain united amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great!
“Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another,” they concluded.
