It’s the big problem that has stressed many Discovery Garden fans, with some mums revealing that they’ve been forced to throw away their Woolworths plants due to huge amounts of mould.
With various strains of mould potentially dangerous to some young gardeners, the rising number of pots affected by mould has caused concern far and wide.
Well now one savvy gardener has shared her tip for removing the unsightly fungi - without chucking them in the bin - and ANYONE can do it!
Sharing her simple hack on the fabulous Woolworths Little Garden/Discovery GardenFacebook group, follower Anna revealed that simple cinnamon - available at most supermarkets for around $2 - is perfect for keeping mould at bay.
She writes: ‘Sprinkle some Cinnamon in your seed will get rid of mould and keep those nasty little bugs away.’
Experts agree that adding a natural anti-fungal - like cinnamon - is a great way to remove mould.
‘The mould spores are likely to be spread through the soil and it will easily come back if you don’t do this,’ says expert Chai Saechao, adding that cinnamon ‘acts as a natural deterrent to mould growth and won’t harm your plant.’
Love it! Other alternatives to cinnamon include baking soda or apple cider vinegar. Good luck!
