A US mum has promised to adopt her dying best friend’s three children.
For Sara, her worst fear isn’t dying, it’s the thought of her kids being split up after she's gone. That’s where Missy Armstrong comes in.
The pair met at hair school and have been friends for 17 years. Thirty-six-year-old Sara is in the final stages of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
"She's in the final stages. I mean, the final, final stages," Missy told WQAD. "She said that she can deal with the fact that she's dying, but she can't deal with the fact that her kids would be split."
Agreeing to adopt the children - aged 11, nine and eight - Missy, a mother-of-two, said: "She would do it for me.”
Missy added that she was glad to bring some cheer to her friend so close to Christmas.
"They deserve it— they really do,” she said. "It’s been a rough road.”
