WAG Shanelle Cartwright: “Why we won’t vaccinate our children”
The wife of NRL star Bryce Cartwright reveals why they don’t trust hospitals, nappies or immunisations
Shanelle Cartwright, who is married to football star Bryce Cartwright and is expecting baby number two, has revealed that they do not believe in vaccinating their children or having them wear nappies.
The 20-year-old mum of one made the frank revelations in an Instagram Q&A. The couple welcomed their first son, Koa, in January 2018 and married last year.
The young mum said she and Cartwright have not vaccinated their son, won’t be using nappies for their second child and 'don't trust hospitals'.
When asked by one fan whether she vaccinated her first son, Mrs Cartwright said she was firmly against immunisations.
“He's not vaccinated - none of our babes will be,” she replied. She also added that she would sooner home-school her children than vaccinate them.
She said she planned to “exclusively breastfeed” her children to the age of six months in lieu of immunisations.
The 20-year-old admits that Bryce was not always on board with this plan, admitting he became “defensive and angry” when she first suggested it.
“And then he read a package insert and a few pages of one of Dr Suzanne Humphries books and saw vaccines under a different light. And now we're here,” she wrote.
“Vaccines DO NOT equal immunity – I have seen soooo many measles cases recently and more than 70% have been vaccinated,” she added.
She also added that the couple would not be using nappies on their new baby, instead preferring to use “elimination communication” - a practice whereby a parent of caregiver uses timing, signals, cues, and intuition to address an infant's need to eliminate waste.
What do you think? Are your children vaccinated?
