Breastfeeding is a beautiful experience between a mother and her child, and there’s no exception for this same-sex couple take who take turns breastfeeding their daughter.
Mums, Claire Eden-McIlroy, 29, and Steph Eden-McIlroy, 26, posed for Australian birth photographer Lacey Barratt in her latest photo series.
Sharing the image on her Facebook page, Barratt speaks out about the possibilities of breastfeeding.
“Can we talk about breastfeeding and same-sex couples for a minute? Can we talk about how NORMAL this should be? Having a desire to share the responsibility with your partner is normal and POSSIBLE,” she writes.
Barratt adds: “Ladies, did you know, that you DO NOT have to be the birth mother in order to breastfeed? Adoptive parents, surrogacy parents, you can breastfeed your baby!
“Same sex male couples, did you know that you can find a woman to wet nurse your baby? Have donor milk? SNS? The possibilities are endless, and should be respected as a heterosexual couple is.”
The Daily Mail reports Steph stimulated her breasts every two hours for ten minutes using a hospital grade breast pump. She also started taking the herb, fenugreek as well as a prescribed drug.
Claire told the publication: "It’s totally natural and comfortable and something we do every day in our house and we wanted to raise awareness of same-sex couples."
