Little Tikes Cozy Coupe Mum Reviews
If you are about to hot-wheel it to the toy store for a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe, you better race. On your marks, get set, GO!
Isn’t it funny how your child could have a thousand toys but there’s just one they gravitate towards. That was the case for my 1 ½ year old toddler, Louis. He has a whole car yard of hot wheels – a red racer, a tractor, an activity pusher … but the one that he really wanted, he couldn’t have. He first spotted the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe at a local café and almost ploughed through a bunch of toddlers to get into the driver’s seat. And off he went! Dodging babycinos, first walkers, flying kids on swings … we could not get him out of that Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. So our mission began. We were determined to find him a cozy coupe for Christmas. But, of course, the elves were on strike. And it seemed every toy store in Australia had sold out.
Seriously?! What. Are. The. Chances?
I mean, the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe is not a new trend toy. It’s been around since Eve. OK maybe not Eve, but it has been around for thirty years! And it is still going strong.
Anyway, we couldn’t get one. But every time we went back to this café Louis raced to the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe and hopped in and out of it and relished in his door opening and closing skills. Then he’d bat those adorable eyelashes until I downed my latte and pushed him around the café in it, dodging patrons until we’d have to go. And believe me, plying a toddler away from a favourite toy never ends well.
Then, the universe answered our prayers. Lo and behold, Louis' dad spied a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe dumped in the back lane where he lives. Some little tyke had obviously grown out of it and ‘payed it forward’.
You should have seen Louis' eyes light up when this was pulled out from Dad’s car boot!
So how did he go with his very own (albeit second-hand) Little Tikes Cozy Coupe?
I asked him to share his thoughts …

Mum Franki and her little tyke, Louis, 1 ½.
Beep Beep! Where can you buy the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe?

Honk if you like it!
He loves the cozy coupe. I think it’s because it is enclosed. There’s some ‘comfort’ in being encased in a little vehicle. And the simplicity of opening the door, stepping into the car, then closing the door and sitting down feels grown up or fun. He sees mum and dad getting in and out of the car and is role modelling the behaviour.
Burn dust: How does he use the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe?
He tries to push himself around on it but we have more grass than flat ground so it’s not easy! He used it with more ease inside – on my polished floorboards! – but I only have a small house and the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe is quite BIG really! Too big for inside my home. The other thing is, because this is second-hand and clearly done a few laps around the track in its time, the wheels and steering skew left. That likely wouldn’t be the case with a new car, though. So it’s not easy for him to manoeuvre. That said, he loves his big brothers pushing him up and down the ramp and around the backyard on it and for someone who doesn’t talk yet, he certainly communicates when he want’s ‘more!’
Hot wheels: Would you recommended it to other mums?
For sure. Finding one (even if second-hand) has been a great road-test to see if he'll continue playing with it or lose interest in five minutes. He loves it - even though it doesn’t steer properly! He will definitely be getting a new one down the track (pun intended).
The verdict?
5 stars!
