The nine-month-old baby who was found washed up on a Queensland beach actually died in NSW, and police are now making arrangements to extradite her father interstate.
The man has allegedly admitted to police that he believed the baby was ‘possessed by demons’.
It's believed post-mortem results have shown that the little girl drowned and may have been placed in the water at Tweed Heads, according to Nine News. Her body then eventually was found some 30 kilometres away at Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast.
NSW Police have said that they plan to travel to Southport to extradite a 48-year-old man today.
Police divers have been searching the Tweed River looking for clues into the death of the baby girl.
Heartfelt tributes have been laid at the beach, not far from where the baby’s body was found.
One note reads "here is a blanket from all Australian mummies and grandmas that would've fought to keep you safe and warm".
More developments are expected later today as police examine the results of the post-mortem and toxicology reports.
