Coronavirus update: NAPLAN cancelled for all students until 2021
The annual testing for students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 called off
Students across Australia will not have to sit their NAPLAN tests this year.
Education ministers have scrapped the testing scheduled for May to allow teachers to focus on continuing education as the coronavirus spreads.
The decision was made at at meeting held today where education ministers decided not to proceed with the testing.
Acting on the advice from chief health and medical officers the tests which were scheduled to commence on May 12 have been abandoned.
NAPLAN is the National Assessment Program, thousands of students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are tested to give in literacy and numeracy to provide a snapshot into students current skills.
