Brendan Fevola's two-month-old daughter, Tobi, was admitted to hospital after she was struck down with a sudden, but potentially fatal infection.
The daughter of the AFL player-turned-Melbourne radio host was rushed to Melbourne's Monash Children's Hospital.
In a heartbreaking photo on Instagram, tiny Tobi can be seen in a hospital cot with a drip in her arm.
Her mum, Alex Fevola, later revealed on social media that little Tobi had been hit by a UTI (urinary tract infection) and it had turned very seriously, very quickly.
She explained that at first on Sunday, Tobi, had had a mild temperature but went downhill very fast. As she is under three months of age, Alex and Brendan took their daughter straight to the emergency department at the hospital.
"Tobi had a simple UTI from a runny nappy BUT what I didn't know is that babies this young can't compartmentalise infection so a basic UTI can spread into their bloodstream and cause serious and sometimes fatal complications," she wrote.
She added, "This is why she was admitted and treated with intravenous antibiotics."
But, because they got her to the hospital in Melbourne so quickly, she was treated fast and is now much better.
'Thank god we got onto it quickly,' said Alex. 'And the infection hadn't spread to her kidneys or anywhere else.'
She added that the family were very grateful to the staff at the Monash Children's Hospital who worked tirelessly to make her feel better.
Tobi hit the headlines after her birth two months ago when Brendan (also known as Fev) jokingly said the couple had named their daughter Brenda! After 24 hours he revealed that her name was really Tobi.
Tobi is Fev's third daughter with Alex, while Alex has an older girl from a previous relationship.
Now that little Tobi is home from hospital we're wishing her a very speedy recovery.
