A baby is being hailed a hero after her mum claims he is the reason she got her breasts checked.
Sarah Boyle, 26, has spoken out saying her son Teddy "became very distressed" whenever she fed him from her right breast. The continued fuss from her son convinced her to get her breasts checked.
The mum is now treated for grade two, the BBC reports.
Boyle explained that her son took to breastfeeding really well. However, when he was 8-months old he suddenly became fussy and his mum believes it was because her milk tasted different in her right breast.
"He became very unhappy and even hit out. For an eight-month baby to push his mother away was really heartbreaking," she said.
Boyle was diagnosed with a benign cyst in her right breast in 2013 and told not to worry. However, thanks to her son she got a second opinion and a doctor confirmed she had cancer.
"I remember it was 11:55am on 16th November," said the mum, who is now halfway through chemotherapy and plans to have a double mastectomy.
"Nobody can say for certain whether it was Teddy, but I know that if it wasn't for him then this time next year it could've been completely different if I'd listened to doctors, but instead I listened to Teddy," she said.
