An eight-year-old girl learnt the hard way where babies really come from.
Keira Jade, eight, was with nine-year-old cousin Ellie-Mai were the only ones home when Keira’ s mum, Chantelle Edmund, 26, went into labour early.
Speaking to the Huddersfield Examiner Edmund said her waters broke around ten p.m. She asked her daughter to call an ambulance and her response was hilarious.
“My mum has just had an alien on the floor!” Keira told emergency services on the phone.
Her cousin corrected her saying, “it’s not an alien, it’s a frog.”
It turns out it wasn’t either. Edmund gave birth to a beautiful girl, Eva Rai, two weeks early on the welcome mat at the bottom of the stairs with her her daughter helping by bringing towels and water.
Edmund said she had planned to have a hone waterbirth with her mum by her side. But 35 minutes after her contractions started, the baby has arrived.
Edmund said Keria is “mortified” at where babies really come from.
”Until a few weeks ago, she thought they were born through a magic door in my tummy!
“Now she is besotted with the baby. She loves her little sister – and Keira’s the talk of the school.”
