61-year-old grandmother gives birth to her OWN GRANDCHILD and the photos are AMAZING
She acted as a surrogate for her son and his partner
In true Modern Family style, a 61-something woman, Cecile Eledge, has given birth to a baby girl, after acting as gestational carrier for her son, Matthew Eledge, and his husband Elliot Dougherty.
The baby, named Uma Louise, was conceived using a donor egg from Elliot’s sister, making this little girl’s creation a true family affair.
The beautiful images of the birth were captured by photographer Ariel Panowicz, who told Yahoo News: “Each person involved in the creation of this little girl is filled with pure love, selflessness and acceptance for one another. This is what family is.”
Incredibly, Cecile’s pregnancy and labour were relatively healthy and straightforward. Ariel was there to capture the special moments and says Cecile was “so calm… and had the energy of a true warrior.”
"When Uma finally entered the world, the room was filled with such an immense amount of love, it truly felt like it vibrated off the walls," she said.
“Almost everyone was in tears. The look that [Cecile] gave her son and son-in-law when they locked eyes with their baby girl for the first time was enough to drain every dang tear from your body.
“Baby Uma will be surrounded and raised by an amazing family, starting with her two dads.”
Matthew told CNN that over the years, there were quite a few people who offered to carry a baby for the couple. But in the end, it was his mother and Elliot's sister who came through.
“I had a lot of people in college say they would (carry and deliver a child), but when push comes to shove, that’s a huge commitment,” he shared. “More than anything, we feel lucky to have women selfless enough to do this.”
